Scandal-Warped Prime Minister Visits White House, Avoids 1MDB Chats

US President Donald Trump recently met with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and praised his country for investing in the US but steered clear of talks around global probes into a Malaysian corruption scandal.

The visit was important for Najib as he faces elections next year and sought to prove he was still welcome at the White House despite a criminal investigation by the US .

The US DoJ has alleged that some $4.5 billion was misappropriated from 1MDB by Malaysian official and their associates.
